The Summer University Theatre Experience launched in 2015 in San Francisco. It was created to offer the students coaching with Susan, the opportunity to meet and work with the top Theatre Faculty in the nation. For the first 2 years, SUTE was primarily a West Coast program consisting of those students we coached. As word of mouth spread, more West Coast students learned about the program and inquired about attending.

In 2017, SUTE contracted with GetAccept’d to audition non-CAP students. Remaining a San Francisco program, for the next 3 years, SUTE was a commuter program and did not offer Housing.

When the Pandemic struck SUTE went virtual for 2 years. During 2020/2021 SUTE began receiving national attention with over half of the students attending, not residing in the San Francisco Bay Area.

In 2022 SUTE moved to Los Angeles and the Loyola Marymount University campus and offered Housing for the first time.

What began as a San Francisco 9-day and 12-Faculty Pre-College Theatre Program is now a two-week and 22-Faculty National Pre-College Theatre Program.
